Michelangelo Paganopoulos (Ph.D. in social anthropology, Goldsmiths University of London, 2012) is a member of the “Global Inquiries and Social Theory Research Group”, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam. Paganopoulos is a graduate of the University of Glasgow where he studied Film & TV Studies combined with Music composition (MA with Honours 1999). In 2010, he completed his doctoral thesis in social anthropology, including a two year period of fieldwork in the monasteries of Mount Athos. Dr Paganopoulos has a long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary research in the Arts and Humanities. He has worked as a lecturer and visiting tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London, and briefly took the role of Membership Officer of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and Commonwealth. He has also edited the volume In-Between Fiction and Non-Fiction: Reflections on the Poetics of Ethnography in Literature and Film (Cambridge Scholars, 2018) and written a number of articles and reviews on anthropology and cultural studies. He has also presented, conveyed, and published various articles and reviews on monastic life on Mount Athos, ethnographic representation and modelling in Anthropology, and essays and book reviews focusing on visual cultures, film and performative studies.
